Our Project Success:

My original goal was for organ and tissue donations. We didn't have any Organ Donors that day, but we did have a very successful project!

Forty-One Total Donations!
Eight "Double-Red" Donations!

Hello, I'm Wayne Hatch

And I'd like to tell you about our blood drive and organ donation project.

I live in Carthage, New York, and I am a member of The Boy Scouts of America Troop 54. Our Troop is a very active, energetic bunch of scouts and leaders. Our leaders and community supporters are the best you can imagine. We have a lot of fun, and we learn a great deal about patriotism, the outdoors, survival, various skills, and community service.

For one of my Eagle Scout projects I decided to organize a community drive encouraging citizens to donate blood to the American Red Cross, and to sign up for the National Organ Donor Program.

My Troop members and family worked very hard for me to accomplish this project. Some of their pictures are at the end of this page. Thanks, guys, Thanks, Mom!

Medical Science progress is a modern miracle.

But without good friends and neighbors donating blood and tissue for victims of injury and disease, many of the miracles could never happen. Blood and tissue donated from neighbors and friends breaths life into the medical miracles that help so many people every day.

The problem is a shortage of donated blood and organs, the need far exceeding the supply.

Many of our leading citizens support this vital program.

It is amazing that just one organ donor can save up to 8 lives, and through tissue-donation provide recovery for 75 others.
